Viking Participatory Scenario Planning
Viking Agri-Venture Ltd recently took part in a helpful team effort in Homa Bay County. This effort aimed to predict the weather for October, November, and December 2023. These forecasts are crucial for local farmers who rely on them to plan their farming activities.
This two-day event was organized by ASDSP II Homa Bay County and the Kenya Meteorological Department, Homa Bay. People from different parts of the local farming community attended, including those who work with sorghum, indigenous chickens, and fish Value Chains.
The main goal of this project was to create accurate weather forecasts tailored to the needs of local farmers. These forecasts help farmers make smart decisions about when to plant, water, and harvest their crops.
What made this project special was that it included the voices of the people who understand the local weather challenges the most - the farmers themselves. They shared their experiences and knowledge to improve the forecasts.
For Viking Agri-Venture, this collaboration shows its dedication to helping local farmers and supporting sustainable farming. By taking part in this project, Viking Agri-Venture aims to use the weather forecasts to provide better support to local farmers.
This effort is just the beginning of a longer collaboration. Viking Agri-Venture wants to keep working with the local community to make farming more successful, even in unpredictable weather.
In summary, Viking Agri-Venture believes that when people work together and share what they know, farming becomes more successful. By joining this weather project, Viking Agri-Venture is showing its commitment to helping local farmers and making farming more sustainable in Homa Bay County.
